FlipFlops~BareToes and Shoes with Holes

Some Summer Fun at The Sandhills.
Loose the FlipFlops and Step in the Beach-Like Sand.
Don't expect to Splash in the Surf....No Water Here.

The Sweetest Toes are Those....Of Grandson Jackson!

All Texans Pose Their Toes in the Bluebonnets.
Don't They?

"Ah, summer, what power you have to make us suffer and like it."

The Faded Rose...Friday ShootOut & Macro Flowers Saturday

When the rose is faded,
Memory may still dwell on
Her beauty shadowed,
And the sweet smell gone

That vanishing loveliness,
That burdening breath,
No bond of life hath then,
Nor grief of death.

'Tis the immortal thought
Whose passion still
Makes the changing
The unchangeable.

Oh, thus thy beauty,
Loveliest on earth to me,
Dark with no sorrow, shines
And burns, with thee.

The Tadpole Pond

Five Little Tadpoles
Five little tadpoles swimming near the shore.
The first one said, “Let’s swim some more.”

The second one said, “Let’s rest awhile.”
The third one said, “Swimming makes me smile.”

The fourth one said, “My legs are growing long.”
The fifth one said, “I’m getting very strong.”
Five little tadpoles will soon be frogs.
They’ll jump from the water and sit on logs.

RainDrops on Roses....

...and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things.

We are having an Unusual Rainy July, and the Usually Finished in June Rose Bushes are in a state of DisComBobUlation!

During a lull in the Daily Downpour, my NeatONikon  captured the RainDrops On Roses.

It was Heaven Sent and a Heavenly Scent!

It was like the Sound of Music in a Usually Hot Texas July!
These are a few of my Favorite Things!

Celebration At The Lake

The lights at night on Lake Nasworthy are a Night Photo Op dream come true.
You just never know what you have until it DigitallyDevelops.

Crusing the Lake and shooting the Boat Docks and Patrol Boat with Shutter on Auto
captured the lights and reflections with the delayed shutter speed.
How Fun Is That!  All these shots are straight out of my NeatONikon.

The lights along the bridge and bank of the Lake were shot at quite a distance.  Another surprise LightShow!

The Fireworks were Spectacular and the Sunset was Stunning!

The Dragonfly...A Creature of the Wind

The meaning of a dragonfly changes with each culture.
The main symbolisms of the dragonfly are renewal, positive force and the power of life in general.
Dragonflies can also be a symbol of the sense of self that comes with maturity.
As a creature of the wind, the dragonfly frequently represents change.
And as a dragonfly lives a short life, it knows it must live its life to the fullest
with the short time it has – which is a lesson for all of us.

The Sunflower...UpClose and Personal...Ants And All

History of the Amazing Sunflower

The story of sunflower (Helianthus Annuus ) is indeed amazing. The wild sunflower is native to North America but commercialization of the plant took place in Russia. It was only recently that the sunflower plant returned to North America to become a cultivated crop. But it was the American Indian who first domesticated the plant into a single headed plant with a variety of seed colors including black, white, red, and black/white striped. From: National Sunflower Assn.

The Sunflower is a habitat for Ants and Spiders as seen in these MacroShots.
It's always such a fun surprise to find them when processing the photos digitally.

As mentioned in the History of the Sunflower, commercialized and cultivated fields of Sunflowers are found throughout North America.

Here in Texas, they grow wild everywhere as well as in cultivated fields.

These shots were taken on a Texas Farm Road on a windy day as is evident in the Sunflower Field.
